Episode 200: Healing From Church Wounds – From Deconstruction to Reconstructing Our Faith, with Natalie Runion (@raisedtostay)

We are in the middle of talking about toxic faith and how to untangle the web of healthy versus unhealthy systems so we can heal our church wounds. So many people have experienced hurt within the church setting. The hurt can come from a wide variety of sources, and it’s often due to unresolved trauma in the lives of the leaders of those systems. Whether you are a pastor's kid who grew up in church your whole life, or you are new to church, it can be tough to discern what is healthy or unhealthy. There are several documentaries out right now, highlighting the toxic side of some well-known faith communities – and perhaps watching those has given you a sense of panic or fear. Or maybe you are raising kiddos in the church and you long for them to meet Jesus, but you wonder if the messy people-stuff is going to create a barrier. Are you among the countless Christians who have begun to deconstruct their faith? Do you find yourself wondering if it’s possible to not lose your faith altogether?

This is a good episode! Listen in and you will find an honest conversation between Terra and Natalie Reunion, who will be speaking together at Grace Story Women's Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, November 3-4, 2023. Register today if you want to join them! Got to https://www.gracestoryministries.com/conference for more info. Natalie, a pastor's kid and ministry leader for two decades, understands the complexity of being in the church and wrestling with her faith, especially with all the hurts and betrayal that can go along with it.

Natalie Runion is an author, speaker, worship leader, songwriter and the founder of Raised to Stay, a ministry for those raised in the church who are finding their own healing, calling and voice in church leadership. Natalie and Tony Runion live with their daughters in Colorado Springs, CO, and they attend New Life Church where Natalie recently served as a pastor. Natalie is the host of the Raised to Stay Podcast and the author of, Raised to Stay: Persevering in Ministry When You Have a Million Reasons to Walk Away.
