Gideons eyes were taken off his circumstance, off his enemy, and put on God. Then, he was able to move forward with hope. And we can do the same! Our Pacific Division Coordinator, Jennifer Hanson, brings peace to our worried, weary and overwhelmed souls by reminding us that God is the One Who fights our battles and brings the victory. We can have overflowing hope as we place our trust in Him!

Moms in Prayer has changed Jennifers life and impacted the lives of her children in amazing ways. She grew up with a praying grandma and recognized the blessing of that. She wanted something similar for her kids. In 2015, a precious tourist visiting Valdez left a Moms in Prayer Booklet with her. That started an incredible adventure. Jennifer read the Booklet and started a group that fall.

Through the four steps of prayer, Moms in Prayer has taught her to focus on God and His character instead of whatever problem is presenting itself. She wants every mom to know the peace of entrusting their kids to God through prayer. Sometimes she doesnt know what to pray. Praying scripture has released her from that. May this passage encourage you from Isaiah 55:10-11, As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Jennifer lives in Valdez, Alaska with her husband and two daughters.

SCRIPTURES

 When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade. And he said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat. And his comrade answered, This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp. As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, Arise, for the Lord has given the host of Midian into your hand. Judge 7:13-15 ESV

The Lord said to Gideon, The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, My own hand has saved me. Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead. Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained.

And the Lord said to Gideon, The people are still too many. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there, and anyone of whom I say to you, This one shall go with you, shall go with you, and anyone of whom I say to you, This one shall not go with you, shall not go. So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon, Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set by himself. Likewise, every one who kneels down to drink. And the number of those who lapped, putting their hands to their mouths, was 300 men, but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink water. And the Lord said to Gideon, With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand, and let all the others go every man to his home. Judges 7:2-7 ESV

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7 ESV

Do you not know?

    Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

    the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

    and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary

    and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,

    and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord

    will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

    they will run and not grow weary,

    they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV

I remember my affliction and my wandering,

    the bitterness and the gall.

I well remember them,

    and my soul is downcast within me.

Yet this I call to mind

    and therefore I have hope:

Because of the Lords great love we are not consumed,

    for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;

    great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, The Lord is my portion;

    therefore I will wait for him.

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,

    to the one who seeks him;

it is good to wait quietly

    for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:19-26 NIV

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4 NIV

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NIV

We need to be reminded that its not about us. Its not about my rights or my fulfillment and happiness. Its all about God! Today we welcome back Moms in Prayer Heartland Division Coordinator, Rachel Raih, to talk through part two of 1 Corinthians chapter four. She encourages us to lay down our desires, be led by the Spirit and He will empower us to live the way that we should. When we are yielded to God, His power will work mightily in and through us!

Rachel clearly remembers when she heard about Moms in Prayer International on a Focus on the Family radio broadcast featuring our Founder, Fern Nichols. Her heart was stirred and now she has been praying in a Moms in Prayer group for 34 years! After serving for 10 years as our Iowa State Coordinator, she now serves as our Heartland Division Coordinator, overseeing seven states. She plans to continue to pray in a group as long as the Lord gives her the physical and mental ability.

 Her oldest son battled severe asthma which resulted in a number of emergency room visits and hospitalizations throughout his childhood on up to college. She would battle anxiety and fear whenever he developed a runny nose or cough and a feeling of dread would come over her. Many weeks he would be the one of the four children that were covered in prayer in her Moms in Prayer hour. This brought great peace, hope and strength. God answered so many prayers on his behalf and today he is healthy and his asthma is well controlled.

Rachel lives with her husband, Darrel, of 46 years in Sioux Center, Iowa. They have four adult children and the wonderful blessing of being grandpa and grandma to eight grandchildren.

SCRIPTURES

Jesus called them together and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Then Jesus told his disciples, If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25 ESV

Lord, give me that soft, teachable, moldable heart. May my heart be responsive to Your Potter hands however you want to mold it. We welcome back Moms in Prayer Heartland Division Coordinator, Rachel Raih, to talk through part one of 1 Corinthians chapter four. We dont have to measure up. We just have to rest in His love and grace for us. Our Georgia State Coordinator, Amy Conrod, is back for part two of 1 Corinthians chapter three. She reminds us that there is always more grace for us! God doesnt run out. He calls us to Himself to find rest for our weary souls.

We humans have no idea what His plans are and what is in His heart. So, we need only and daily the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Today we continue in our 1 Corinthians series by walking through chapter two with our Europe and Israel Director, Kathrin Larsen. She reminds us of the power of Gods Word and the gift of the Holy Spirit as we depend on Him and not our own strength. As we keep in step with Him, we can know how deeply we are loved and that His power is made perfect in our weakness. We can have the mind of Christ!

After 20 years of praying with Moms in Prayer, Kathrin Larsen has seen God move countless times and can joyfully testify that He faithfully answers prayer. Kathrin currently serves as the Moms in Prayer International Director of Europe and Israel and oversees the ministry and leadership teams in 47 countries.
