ABOUT OUR GUEST

Lorielle Agraso is a follower of Jesus with a heart for revival and God's truth. She became a stay-at-home mom after her first of three was born. Her husband Gabe, is often traveling for work, and she found a deeper calling for her home and family as she learned to trust God in much of the solitary time. She was born and raised in Southern California, but recently moved to middle Tennessee, where the family has lived for almost 4 years. This was a big leap of faith, drenched in much prayer, but Lorielle found peace in surrendering what she once controlled, to dive deeper into what God was providing their family. They now live on 16 acres with 3 children (1 girl and 2 boys), 24 chickens, 6 ducks, 5 dogs and 2 kittens with hopes to add additional animals in the years to come. She loves growing her garden, cooking, trying new things and having friends and family over for game nights. Her faith has become her biggest adventure and each season she looks forward to the time spent with God as He plants new seeds and brings her into the next chapters He intends her walk to through.

SCRIPTURES

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6 ESV

Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:1-3 NIV

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8 NIV

Meanwhile his disciples urged him, Rabbi, eat something. But he said to them, I have food to eat that you know nothing about. Then his disciples said to each other, Could someone have brought him food? My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. John 4:31-34 NIV

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;

    my soul thirsts for you;

my flesh faints for you,

    as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,

    and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, Psalm 63:1 & 5 ESV

You prepare a table before me

    in the presence of my enemies. Psalm 23:5a NIV

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. Romans 14:17-18 ESV

ABOUT OUR GUESTS

Vicki Petkevich is part of the Global Team for Moms in Prayer International overseeing Oceania and the Caribbean and serves as an Area Coordinator for parts of San Diego, CA. She finds great joy in uniting, training and equipping mothers to pray for children and schools.

She was first introduced to Moms in Prayer in 2006 when a friend invited her to visit her MIP group. A mother of four young children at the time, she was hooked after that first meeting because of the focused prayer time and praying scripture over her children.

Currently, Vicki and her husband reside in San Diego, CA. Three of her adult children reside in California and her youngest is attending college at the University of Idaho. Her early career was as an elementary school teacher, then she transitioned to a stay-at-home mom and serving in Childrens Ministry. She loves hosting family get-togethers, trying new culinary recipes, reupholstering furniture, and traveling with her husband. Her faith is the cornerstone of her life and Moms in Prayer has been an anchor for her to be surrounded by sisters of faith who embrace the power of prayer.

SCRIPTURES

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 ESV

Cease from anger and abandon wrath;

Do not get upset; it leads only to evildoing.

For evildoers will be eliminated,

But those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.

Yet a little while and the wicked person will be no more;

And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there.

But the humble will inherit the land

And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity. Psalm 37:8-11 NASB

Then I will purify the lips of the peoples,

    that all of them may call on the name of the Lord

    and serve him shoulder to shoulder.

From beyond the rivers of Cush

    my worshipers, my scattered people,

    will bring me offerings.

On that day you, Jerusalem, will not be put to shame

    for all the wrongs you have done to me,

because I will remove from you

    your arrogant boasters.

Never again will you be haughty

    on my holy hill.

But I will leave within you

    the meek and humble.

The remnant of Israel

    will trust in the name of the Lord.

They will do no wrong;

    they will tell no lies. Zephaniah 3:9-13a NIV

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3 NIV

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 ESV

Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christwho in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. 2 Corinthians 10:1 NKJV

Beatitudes: Building Godly Character in Women | Those Who Mourn with Susan Shepherd

The Lord wants us to fast, and weep, & mourn over our sin because, when we are believers, this mourning & sorrow will drive us to Him. There & only there we can receive His grace & mercy. Today we continue in our series, Beatitudes: Building Godly Character in the Woman of God, by welcoming back our United States Country Coordinator, Susan Shepherd. We dive into the second beatitude, Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Susan reminds us of the power of prayer, confession and our great Comforter, the Holy Spirit. Listen in to learn how to pray more deeply and grow closer to your Heavenly Father.

The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. To find practical and spiritual advice to help you grow into the parent you want to be visit ChristianParenting.org

ABOUT OUR GUEST

Susan Shepherd joyfully serves as the USA Country Coordinator for Moms in Prayer International, coaching, encouraging, and working with amazing godly women across the United States. She joined a Moms in Prayer group in 1996 when her daughters were in elementary school. Since then, shes experienced the peace, power, and perspective of watching God work in the lives of children and schools and she is passionate about sharing this hope and joy with other moms. Susan is married to Joe, mom to two married daughters, and the grandmother of three with another grandchild on the way. Susan loves to pray, but she also likes coffee with friends, traveling, and a good book.

SCRIPTURES

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4 ESV

As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us. For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 ESV

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,

    because the Lord has anointed me

to bring good news to the poor;

    he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim liberty to the captives,

    and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor,

    and the day of vengeance of our God;

    to comfort all who mourn;

to grant to those who mourn in Zion

    to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,

the oil of gladness instead of mourning,

    the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;

that they may be called oaks of righteousness,

    the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3 ESV

Even now, declares the Lord,

    return to me with all your heart,

    with fasting and weeping and mourning. Joel 2:12 NIV

Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him. Daniel 9:13-14 NIV

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. John 16:22 NIV

SCRIPTURES

If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. Psalm 50:12 NIV

Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it. And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16 NKJV

Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Proverbs 30:8 NIV

I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:5 NASB

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2 NIV

Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. Proverbs 29:23 NIV

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
