S6Ep2: Bible Investigators: Creation Puzzles and Activities for Independent Learning

This week hosts Mike Nawrocki and Sarah Humphrey talk with author Danika Cooley about her new book in the BIble Investigators series, Creation Puzzles and Activities for Independent Learning.

Bursting with 90 brain-teasing puzzles, 40 Bible passages, and 30 concepts regarding God’s creation, this lesson-and-activity book will give kids aged 8-12 skills to investigate the Bible for themselves—like a real investigator!  As kids apply logic and solve challenging puzzles, they will dive deeply into Scripture and examine the Bible’s account of creation, picking up lots of skills for reading and interpreting the Bible. As well as lots of puzzles, there are journaling boxes for kids to reflect on, interpret, and apply what they have learned.  Great for use in homeschools (independent work, morning time, or Bible lessons) and also great for churches to use with kids.  Fun for road trips and rainy days too! The book includes a link to free downloads that include reproducibles for more than one child, so families or classes can easily work together.

Danika Cooley is an award-winning children’s author and Bible-curriculum developer. Bible Road Trip™ is used across the globe and weekly she encourages tens of thousands of parents to intentionally raise biblically literate children at ThinkingKidsBlog.org. She is the author of the Who What Why Christian history series, When Lightning Struck!: The Story of Martin Luther, and Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible.

S5Ep49: Birds on a Wire Moms

This week hosts Mike Nawrocki and Sarah Humphrey talk with author Karen Stubbs about her ministry, Birds on a Wire Moms.

Karen Stubbs is an author, speaker, and mom to four adult children. In 2011, she founded Birds on a Wire Moms, a ministry created to equip women with practical and Biblical truth. Early on in her marriage, Karen’s husband Greg served as a fighter pilot in the Navy. It was during those tough early years, while Greg served overseas during Desert Storm, that Karen grew in her reliance on God and gained a heart for teaching biblical truths to women. Full of practical advice and engaging stories from her own walk with the Lord, Karen Stubbs is passionate about challenging women to live out the truth of God’s Word in their everyday lives.

Birds on a Wire Moms
As moms, we constantly serve our families. We cook, we clean and we spend hours of our life in the carpool line. We stay up at night thinking, praying and, if we’re being honest, worrying
about our children’s well being. Our plates are full and our days are short.

There’s nothing we want more than to love and nurture our children, but we don’t always feel encouraged or equipped to do all that comes with the job. Often times, we feel alone. That’s
why Karen Stubbs created Birds on a Wire in 2011. Birds on a Wire is a ministry that provides Godly, practical advice so you’ll feel celebrated, encouraged and equipped to parent with confidence.

What started as a group of eight moms meeting in Karen’s basement has grown into an international ministry with thousands of moms all over the world. Birds on a Wire supports moms through the weekly podcast, Wire Talk, as well as small group studies available through Right Now Media and live speaking engagements all across the U.S.

Birds on a Wire Moms is for all moms. Moms who work out of the house or in the house. Moms who have a newborn to moms who are empty nesters. No matter where you are in the journey of motherhood, Birds on a Wire Moms is here to encourage and equip you.

S5Ep45: THE SEVEN: FLOOD

This week hosts Mike Nawrocki and Sarah Humphrey talk with author Troy Schmidt and producer of our podcast Dan Lynch about their new middle reader fiction series, THE SEVEN.

The first two books in the series release December 1st - just in time for Christmas with five more books planned over the next two years.

THE SEVEN time-travel adventure series follows a group of kids who are given incredible powers (mapping to the gifts of the spirit) which begin day then find each other over the course of the book series. They unite to battle a villain who is trying to disrupt Bible history.

In the first book of the series FLOOD, Josh Davidson's dad, Edison, has created a time travel backpack that is stolen by the evil Dr. Bales, who uses it to travel to Noah's day to sink the ark! Josh and his newfound friends, with the help of Big Mike, an operative with a secret, covert organization, follow Dr. Bales to stop him before all of humanity (and nature) is completely destroyed.

In the second book of the series, FIRE, Josh and his friends journey to the Middle East to save their friend Hajj and travel back in time to witness the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. They work to make sure Lot and his family get out in time and uncover Dr. Bales plan to take out Abraham.

THE SEVEN carefully follows biblical history and even throws in some archaeology to show the truth behind the Bible. Every book has a secret code adventurers can decipher, testing to see how carefully they are reading.

S5Ep43: A Gentle Tyranny

Mike and Sarah catch up with author Jess Corban this week to talk about her debut novel, A Gentle Tyranny.

What if women unraveled the evils of patriarchy?

With men safely "gentled" in a worldwide Liberation, the matriarchy of Nedé has risen from the ashes. Seventeen-year-old Reina Pierce has never given a thought to the Brutes of old. Itching to escape her mother's finca--and desperate to keep her training and forbidden friendship a secret--her greatest worry is which Destiny she'll choose on her next birthday. But when she's selected as a candidate for the Succession instead, competing to become Nedé's ninth Matriarch, she discovers their Eden has come at a cost she's not sure she's willing to pay.

Jess Corban's debut novel presents a new twist to the dystopian genre, delivering heart-pounding action, thought-provoking revelations, and a setting as lush as the jungles of Central America.

Jess Corban graduated from college with a degree in communications and, perhaps more instructive, thirteen stamps in her passport. After college, a chance interview at a small publisher for an even smaller position sparked a love for writing that turned into twelve nonfiction books (under various pseudonyms). Her debut novel, A Gentle Tyranny, was nominated for a Christy Award. She continues to write across genres from her home on the central coast of California. Connect with Jess at JessCorban.com.
