Family Birthday Traditions To Start This Year

Something that I find most kids want to talk about is their birthdays!

Birthdays are a big deal for kids. You might think that kids just love birthdays because they get to have a party, eat cake, and receive gifts, but there’s actually a lot more to it!

Birthdays help kids start understanding time and years. Having celebration parties, even if it’s just a small gathering with family, help children feel loved and more connected to their families and help them create positive memories to look back on.

Celebrating a birthday is always worth it!

In this episode, we are sharing 6 ideas of traditions you can start doing in your family to celebrate and commemorate birthdays.

I invited my friend and fellow birthday lover, Christen Clark of the Collide Kids Podcast to join me for this episode. She has so many fantastic ideas!

We’re also sharing 4 ways that kids can help their friends and siblings feel special on their birthdays because everyone has a birthday!

This episode emphasizes the joy of serving other people and thinking of others in a unique way that will help children think beyond their own birthday times, but really notice others in a positive way!

Oh and as you’re listening, just pretend like there are balloons everywhere. You can’t have a birthday without balloons!

Listen with your children, and let the conversations flow.

2 Animal Games For Preschoolers

What preschooler isn’t obsessed with animals?!

If your preschooler is animal-obsessed, they are going to love this episode!

This episode features 2 animal games.

In our first activity, we'll play a hilarious game where the animals and sounds are mixed up. Your preschooler will have a blast making up all of these silly animal sounds!

Our second activity is a naming game where kids will group animals together based on what they eat. The challenge is to name as many animals as possible, so I know that they will have a great time using their brains to think of different animals.

This episode is a real Hoot and I know that they will have a blast listening and playing along!

8 Ways Kids Can Show Kindness | Along For The Ride Family Podcast

This episode is all about ways kids can learn to show Kindness. This is a big topic because practicing kindness is one of those things that everyone is capable of doing, no matter how young or how old you are.

Kindness brings smiles. Smiles bring fun. And we are all about fun here on
Along For The Ride!

There are 2 parts to this Along For The Ride episode:

In the conversation part of the show, I am detailing 8 different ways that kids could show kindness to the people around them. There's even time baked into the show for everyone to name one way that they will show kindness in the following week.

When you declare something out loud, you are much more likely to do it. So this simple exercise will help your kids stick to their kind actions.

In our interactive game segment, we're emphasizing kindness even more with a choice game. In this activity, kids will hear 2 descriptions of actions and pick which one is the kindest option. It's a great thinking activity that points back to our Kindness theme.

And there is also a game within a game happening during this episode! I've asked kids to keep a tally of how many times I say the word "Kindness" within the episode. Hint - it's a lot!

Listen with your children, play along, and let the conversations flow.
