My Bible Reading:
He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. (Ephesians 1:8)
Do you know your IQ? Just how smart are you? Some people seem to be naturally smart and are perfect 4.0 students. Others have to really work to make good grades. So does becoming a Christ follower automatically make you smarter?
Truth is, the wisdom and understanding God grants His children are not things like math and science courses. Rather, they provide a new perspective on life. “In him [God] lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). Wise Solomon said, “The Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). And when you seek to follow God and His ways you begin to see life from a new perspective. You begin to see life as God sees it. That is true wisdom.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5–6). Don’t believe the lie that wisdom and insight for living come from within you. Wisdom is from God. Since God sees you as His trusting child and grants you wisdom, look to Him and accept His direction and guidance. What God says is true of you is absolutely true—you are His child in whom He grants wisdom.
My Prayer: Thank You that You are my source of wisdom in life. Help me resist looking to myself and depending on my own understanding. I want to keep seeking Your will and following in Your ways. You are such a remarkable and wise God. I love You. Amen.
